Cincinnati Established: June 1920 Chair: James O. Everly Jim will not be able to attend the Region 2 meeting. This section has held talks by patent attorneys that are also electrical engineers. The section has been active with the University of Cincinnati in reviewing the Honors Program and its accreditation. A Senior Member Elevation workshop is planned in the near future. Dayton Established: June 1943 Chair: Dr. Kuldip S. Rattan Dr. Kuldip S. Rattan will not be able to attend the Region 2 meeting in Baltimore. The big event was the Senior Member upgrade at Wright State University. Using an assembly-line type of procedure, we were able to upgrade 28 IEEE member to senior members in one day. Lima Established: June 1954 Chair: Dennis Hoffman Dennis Hoffman will attend the Region 2 meeting. He has polled his section for key issues for discussion. They wish to increase precollege activities and the local section’s involvement in this area. They may bring questions on the Sections Congress, which is now a topic of discussion within this group. Cleveland Established: September 1907 Chair: Joseph S. Collura A representative is already scheduled to attend the Region 2 IEEE meeting. The section has a continued interest in talks concerning systems engineers and links to industry. This is a large base of their membership. Web Page: http://www.ieeecleveland.org
Akron Established: August 1920 Chair: Robert J. Voss The Akron/Canton section is unable to send a representative to the Region 2 meeting this weekend. The section is supporting the local high school science fairs by providing judges and presenting awards to the outstanding student projects. The section is presenting an outstanding student award to a student from Stark State College of Technology at their annual awards luncheon. Web Page: Not yet available
Youngstown Established: December 1925 Chair: Professor Faramarz Mossayebi Activities still center about the university. We have a new chair and continue to have monthly meetings involving students. Neither Professor Faramarz Mossayebi nor Professor Jalal Jalali will be able to attend. The region 2 meeting. Web Page: Not yet available
Columbus Established: March 1920 Chair: Robert A. Walston Robert will attend the Region 2 meeting. This section has been very active and a PowerPoint presentation was included. To briefly summarize: 4 chapters have been rejuvenated, several section and society tours were conducted. They are trying to rejuvenate a student chapter at a local community college. Summary and Conclusions • The three biggest areas of interest: • Senior member upgrade efforts. • Continued efforts to reach students and potentially young members. • Strong interest in the Sections Congress.
