Colorado’s Resource for Animal Response

PetAid aims to build community capacity for all-hazards response by assisting in developing animal response plans and County/Community Animal Response Teams. The program provides training, technical assistance, and coordination for the Colorado Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps to respond to planned and emergency events. State Emergency Operations Center support includes care for animals, resource acquisition assistance, and logistics support.

  2. PetAid Objectives Build community capacity to respond to all-hazards Local program support to create an animal response plan and to develop a County/Community Animal Response Team (CART) Training and technical assistance Preparedness

  3. Coordination of Colorado Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps (CO VMRC) • Members are available to supplement local response through provision of sheltering, evacuation and veterinary services • Planned and • emergency events • Mobile clinic and • medical cache

  4. Resource support to local response • State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) support: care for companion and service animals (ESF 6A) • Resource acquisition assistance- personnel and equipment • Logistics support

  11. How Can I Become More Involved? • Join/establish a local CART • Join the Colorado Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps • Become a member of a national sheltering and rescue group (American Humane, ASPCA)
