  3. 2 Types of References • MLA: Modern Language Association • APA: American Psychological Association • MLA---For English/Literature • APA--- All other subjects

  4. For your essay… • You may choose either MLA or APA. • In this class: we will discuss MLA.

  5. References • 2 Types: • In-text citation • Works Cited Page

  6. In-text Citation: • This shows your references IN YOUR ESSAY. • EX: • According to Professor Aaron Pooley, “Writing an essay is very difficult (Pooley 26). period Author name Page #

  7. Another example: • The Korea Times reported, “Students must listen carefully to their professor to avoid mistakes (The Korea Times 45). • If there is NO author, use organization’s name. • MOST newspaper articles have an author. • Check carefully.
