ESW National • Engineers Without Frontiers USA (EWF-USA) decided to rebrand to Engineers for a Sustainable World (ESW) after a comprehensive review of our mission, values, and approach to improving the quality of life around the world. While the EWF-USA name attracted a number of members, donors, and partners, it also suggested to the public that we worked in the area of “humanitarian assistance,” providing immediate aid in emergency situations such as natural disasters, famine, or war. (Please see “Development Approach and Activities). Engineers for a Sustainable World instead focuses on the challenges of long-term, sustainable development – by seeking lasting solutions for reducing poverty, and by working to improve sustainability in the United States and abroad.
