  2. Remind 101 • This is a FREE text messaging/email service. • We will send you reminders and updates and keep you in the loop on all things third grade! • You are not able to respond, only receive. • Sign up with the codes sent by the teachers.

Class Dojo • Behavior system – Points are awarded and deducted for behavior. • Students can enter a code to change their avatars and check progress. • Parents enter a parent code to receive weekly reports. • If you have no internet access, let us know. We can send you a paper copy of the reports.

  5. Reading Homework • Begins September 16 • Read one or two chapters each night and record on the reading log. • Complete the task on the back – one per week. Be sure to read the task before your weekly reading. Some are specific! • Keep logs for three weeks, but only work one week at a time.

  6. Reading Homework Charlotte’s Web Chapter 1 Don’t forget to sign! E.B. White Wilbur wanted to live He was going to become food. Remember, only do one week at a time! Charlotte spun webs with messages about Wilbur. Charlotte died, but Wilbur was saved.

  7. Tic-Tac-Toe Homework Begins next week Choose three out of the nine choices to complete by Friday. • One spelling • One math • One writing

  9. Homeworkopoly Each week a student brings completed homework, he/she will roll a die and move around the game board. There are special spaces on the board that will give students privileges!

Grading System • When a student fails an assignment, re-teaching will occur, a similar assignment will be given, and the average of the two grades will be recorded. • When a student fails an assessment, re-teaching will occur, a similar test will be given, and the higher of the two grades will be recorded. • All corrections will be made at school. • If a student is absent, he/she has an equal number of days plus one to complete missed work.

  13. Healthy Snack • Please limit the amount of sugar. • Send water only. • Snack must be eaten in 5 minutes, so students need a quick snack. • Be aware that some of our students have peanut allergies.

  16. Reading Strategy Nights Third grade is the first year for STAAR! We are planning one evening every other month for reading strategies. Come and learn a strategy we use in class so that you can practice at home with your child. We’ll keep it short while giving you some actual practice and useful information. When we all do our jobs, our children can be successful!
