Introduction • The Ice Age happened 1.5 million years ago. • Summers got shorter and winters got longer. • During the Ice Age animals moved to the tundra region.
Animals in the Ice Age • The Woolly Mammoth was an animal in the Ice Age that is now extinct. • The Saber Tooth tiger was also an animal from the Ice Age. Their fangs were 7 inches long. • The reason all the animals survived throughout the years is because their fur coats helped keep them warm.
The Tundra • The animals moved to the tundra during the winter. • The tundra was an extremely cold climate. • It had a short season of reproduction and growth. • It had a very large population of wildlife.
How did the summers get shorter and winters get longer? • The continental plates got closer together which made winters longer and summers shorter. • This effect created the Ice Age. • The last Ice Age happened 40,000 years ago.
Conclusion The Ice Age was a very interesting stage of the Earth. We still have not learned everything about it. I hope scientists learn more so I can learn more about it, also.
