American business magnate, philanthropist, author and chairman of Microsoft • Is born in October 28,1955 • He is consistently ranked among the world's wealthiest people and was the wealthiest overall from 1995 to 2009, excluding 2008, when he was ranked third • He has also authored or co-authored several books

EDUCATION • at 13 years he enrolled in the Lakeside School, an exclusive preparatory school • enrolled at Harvard College in the autumn of 1973 • at Harvadrd he met Steve Ballmer, who later succeeded Gates as CEO of Microsoft • did not have a definite study plan while a student at Harvard and spent a lot of time using the school's computers

  4. FAMILY • Parents:William H. Gates and Mary Maxwell Gates, of English, German, and Scotch-Irish  descend. • Married with Melinda French • Three children:Jennifer Katharine (1996), Rory John (1999) si Phoebe Adele (2002).

FIRST BUSINESS SUCCESS • The demonstration of BASIC held at MITS's offices in Albuquerque, was a success and resulted in a deal with MITS to distribute the interpreter as Altair BASIC. • On November 26, 1976, the trade name "Microsoft" was registered with the Office of the Secretary of the State of New Mexico
