Presentation of DRC The Danish Refugee Council (DRC),established in 1956, is a private, humanitarian organization covering all aspects of the refugee cause Departments: International Asylum & Repatriation Volunteers Integration Communications
Presentation of DRC Mission: To protect refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) against persecution and to promote durable solutions through repatriation, local integration or rehabilitation. How? By operationel presence in finding solutions By advocacing for the refugees Securing national support Contributor to a holistic way of thinking
Presentation of DRC A few facts DRC work in more than 25 -30 countries throughout the world, eg. Iraque, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Somalia 2007 turnover: 700 million DKK 4,000 employees internationally, 500 in DK 3,700 volunteers in Denmark Funding by DANIDA, EU, UNHCR and governments in a number of countries Approx. 33 mio. DKK from private donors/contributors Administrive costs: 5-6 % “HAP” certification in 2007
Presentation of DRC International Projects and programmes in more than 25 countries Each year we help/support 3,5 mio. refugees +4.000 locally imployees on our projects Relief and other humanitarian aid (Food and NFI) Protection of refugees Support to return and repatriation as well as contributions to the promotion of durable solutions Support and capacity building of local and national authorities Removal of landmines

DRC fundraising Present challenges To increase fundraising level from 25 – 50 mio. DKK To identify our strenghts/weaknesses and how to use these to approach and attract the corporate market and corporate sponsors To lift our national collection from 15 to 20 mio. DKK To switch from PBS agreements to memberships Dreams To have as good brand nationally as internationally membership/sponsorship of DRC is a “must” for both privates and companies
