LMS : Learning Management System เป็นการจัดระบบกระบวนการเรียนการสอนตั้งแต่เนื้อหาการลงทะเบียนการเก็บข้อมูลการจัดกิจกรรม การมีปฏิสัมพันธ์ระหว่างผู้สอนกับผู้เรียนเช่นกระดานข่าวห้องสนทนาอภิธานศัพท์ วิกิ เป็นต้นซึ่งจะมีส่วนของระบบฐานข้อมูลที่สนับสนุนการจัดการเนื้อหาวิชามีคลังข้อสอบและระบบบริหารจัดการรายวิชา โดยจะเอื้ออำนวยความสะดวกให้กับผู้เรียนผู้สอนและผู้ดูแลระบบ โปรแกรมประเภทนี้อาทิ Moodle , Atutor , Learn Square , Caroline , WebCT

  8. CMS : Content Management System เป็นระบบจัดการเนื้อหาและนำมาใส่ไว้ในระบบฐานข้อมูลเหมือน LMS ผู้ดูแลสามารถจัดการบริหารเพิ่มเติมเนื้อหาติดตั้งอุปกรณ์เครื่องมือบางส่วนได้ด้วยตนเองเช่น • Mambo , Joomla, Drupal, Xoops, PHP Nuke, Post Nuke, Thai Nuke etc..
