The Academic Plan • Always be on time. This cannot be over-emphasized. By being on time, you are telling a teacher that you respect them and their class rules. • Being in class is not a team endeavor. • Remember that in any classroom the teacher is the absolute authority, so follow his/her rules and show respect at all times. Be a leader in the classroom. • Dress neatly – shoes tied, no caps in the building, hair neat and clean. • Before class starts, make sure you have all your materials. • Once class starts, keep your mouth closed unless you are asking or answering a question. • Never prepare to leave class before it ends. Closing of books, zipping of backpacks, etc. are between class activities. • Be a leader in the classroom. Assist the teacher in every way possible. • Make sure you turn in all assigned work, on time, and complete. With proper planning, you will get everything done in all of your classes. • Do your homework as soon as possible after class. • Never be afraid to ask questions or for help. This is how people learn. • If you miss a day of class, before you leave, make arrangements to make up tests, assignments, or papers. • DON’T MAKE EXCUSES! Anyone can make excuses for why something didn’t get done. The most successful people are the ones who find ways to get it done!
Mustang Parents • We coach our players like they are our sons. • Every decision made is based around one question, “is this the best choice for our players?” • We believe, stress, and teach priorities. • We require your child's undivided attention when we are teaching. • The team always comes first. We have no stars.`
Mustang Parents cont’ • Athletes are played because: • They have a positive attitude • They do the things that are required plus more. • They add the most value to the team. • They understand their role on the team. • Their number one goal is to make the team better. • They get the job done better than someone else. • A parent's influence or position makes no difference. • A player will play his best college potential position only if it's best for our team. • Players who do not work out with the team in the summer start at the bottom of the depth chart. • Publicity is used to promote our team, school, and community.
Mustang Parents cont’ • Schedule meetings ahead of time. After a game is not a good time for either of us. • NEVER make contact with an assistant coach regarding a situation that would be perceived as negative. This will always go through me first. • Remember our philosophy when evaluating a situation. (The Team always comes before the Individual.) • My door is always open and so is my mind; please have the same attitude
