3. Dr. Abdus Salam, a Nobel laureate in Physics is one of the most outstanding scientists of Pakistan. He was awarded honorary doctorate by 26 universities. He was a student at St.John's College Cambridge, a student at the Institute of Advanced Studies at Princeton University, a member of the Royal Society and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His areas of research were physics of elementary particles and scientific education and science policy.  He was a member of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, a member of the Scientific Commission of Pakistan and was Chief Scientific Adviser to the President from 1961 to 1974. His work for Pakistan has, however, been far-reaching and influential.

4. Early Life:- • Abdus Salam was born in Jhang in 1926. His father was an official in the Department of Education in a poor farming district. His family has a long tradition of faithfulness and learning. He got the highest marks ever recorded for the  Matriculation Examination at the University of the Punjab. he was awarded a scholarship to St. John's College, Cambridge, where he took a BA (honours) with a double First in mathematics and physics in 1949. In 1950 he received the Smith's Prize from Cambridge University for the most outstanding pre-doctoral contribution to physics. He also obtained a PhD in theoretical physics at Cambridge; his thesis, published in 1951, contained fundamental work in quantum electrodynamics which had already gained him an international reputation.Theoretical physicists use mathematics to describe certain aspects of Nature which is very important for developing countries.

5. Path to the noble prize:- • To pursue a career of research in theoretical physics he left his own country and worked abroad. He succeeded in finding a way to solve the heartbreaking dilemma faced by many young and gifted theoretical physicists. In 1954 Salam left his native country for a lectureship at Cambridge. For more than forty years he has been a prolific researcher in theoretical elementary particle physics. He has either pioneered or been associated with all the important developments in this field, maintaining a constant and fertile flow of brilliant ideas.  To accommodate the astonishing volume of activity that he undertakes, Professor Salam cuts out such inessentials as holidays, parties and entertainments. His aim was the advancement of theoretical physics which is a need of developing countries.

6. Dr. Abdus Salam got the 1979 physics Nobel Prize for the historic unification of the weak nuclear force with the electromagnetic force and of theoretical physics . Abdus Salam is known to be a devout Muslim, whose religion does not occupy a separate compartment of his life; it is inseparable from his work and family life. He once wrote: "The Holy Quran enjoins us to reflect on the verities of Allah's created laws of nature; however, that our generation has been privileged to glimpse a part of His design is a bounty and a grace for which I render thanks with a humble heart."Abdus Salam died on November 21, 1996.

8. Early Life:- • Alamgir was born in 1955, in East Pakistan (modern-day Bangladesh) into a Bengali family. His father Farmuzal Haq was a politician and part of the All India Muslim League. He studied in Mirzapur Cadet College, Tangail, Bangladesh. He briefly studied in B A F Shaheen College, Dhaka, Bangladesh. At the age of around 15, he moved to Karachi, West Pakistan in search of a future in the music industry. He had brought nothing else with him but a guitar and a passion to sing. Although he was born in Bangladesh he settled in Karachi and considered it his home town because he became famous in Karachi and people of Karachi appreciated his performance. His pop-singing became very famous.

9. How he entered in the world of music? He settled in the PECHS area of Karachi and started singing in the evenings at a small cafe called “Cafe D Khan” on Tariq Road. He would not get paid for his performance but was able to get free meal. He started with an ordinary café singer but due to his devotion in his work he was able to success. Someone from the audience in the hotel liked his Guitar playing and told him about the programme at the TV station called Ferozan.  He gave his audition but the director had selected someone else. So Sohail Rana, the music director was in the next studio and asked someone to call Alamgir to his car outside the TV station. He said, he liked his playing and asked if he would like to perform for children. This is how he entered in the formal world of Music.

10. Achievements He started singing on the Pakistani Television at the beginning of the 1970s when the people in Pakistan were not familiar with the modern Urdu music. Shair Siddiqui introduced his song “Albela Rahi” which was a translation of a Spanish song "Guantanamera". It proved a hit in 1973 among the youth of the 70’s. There was a time during the 70’s when the music loving boys and girls gathered regularly on the streets to catch his glimpse. He soon became popular among the younger generation in the country.  He sang for the Pakistani television in the very beginning of his career but later as the time passed he started singing for the Pakistani music industry. He also performs abroad. Alamgir has polycystic kidney disease, undergoes dialysis three times per week and requires a kidney transplant. He was awarded pride of performance by the President of Pakistan due to his amazing performances in Pakistan throughout 80's and 90's. His latest song was a duet with Korean descent Canadian singer Kristie Yung named "Keh Dena”
