  3. Mounds of gulal or colored powder are sold on the streets in preparation for Holi -- The Festival of Colors.

  4. The skies turn different colors as kids and adults alike, throw gulal at one another.

  5. In addition to colored powder, colored water is also thrown at one another with the help of water balloons...

  6. ...and water guns.

  7. Savory snacks, along with mithais or sweets, are enjoyed during Holi.

  8. Traditional dances add to the festivities.

  9. Holi celebrates the arrival of spring and a bountiful harvest. Happy Holi!
