  1. WELCOME TO MY SPEAKER'S CORNER I am going to tell you about my favourite hobby which is athletics.

  2. Why I Love Athletics? • The reason I like athletics is: • I always liked running even as a toddler! • Loved jumping from high objects • Beating the school bell • It is a competitive sport. • There are fair rules. • It is non contact. • It is fun.

  3. LEE VALLEY☺ • Every week, children can go to Lee Valley to learn about athletics. • On your Marks • Get Set. • We learn to throw. • And Run. • GO

  4. LEE VALLEY☺ • Then every six months, Lee Valley hosts an athletics competition called a Minithon for children in Yr 3 to 7 to compete.

  6. LEE VALLEY☺ • At the Minithon: • You could take part in 60m / 200m / 600m / Shot put / Long jump / 60m Hurdles / High jump / Turbo javelin. • I always compete in 60m, 200m and 600m. • The hardest race I think is 600m, on the other hand, the easiest is 200m!

  7. LEE VALLEY’S MEETING №1 – Feb 2012 • I was in the 7 & 8 years old age group competing against year 3s. • 1st race 60m • I went to my lane, • Starter • 2nd Race 200m • Stumbled • 3rd Race 600m • I had to win to take gold medal • Tactic was to stay in front • Overall I finished in first place

  8. Lee Valley Meeting №2 – Oct 2012 • In Group 8-9 yr olds - competing against Yr 4’s AND Yr 5’s • I Noticed all the year 5’s were much taller • RESULTS: • 60m: 5th • 200m: 1st • 600m: 3rd • I ranked first out of all the years 4 • Overall out of all years 4 & 5 I came in 7th place
