What do they do? • Can help people get information they need on the internet • Content is categorised – can define your own screens • “Safe” surfing • Lets have a look at the screens
Why use them? • Studies have shown that about a third of people using them find them helpful, some people didn’t need to see an adviser • They are easy to use and encourage people to use sites like Adviceguide • Can help people see advantages of using the internet
We have got a new supplier • Via HP – company called “Kiosk” • Cheaper, includes maintenance • Tougher • Better security • Standard software • We own screen design • You can do your own reports • “privacy screen”
How much?/How do I get one • £4600 plus VAT includes • Delivery and installation • Installation/config of wireless equipment and firewall • Configuration of customised screens • 3 years on site support • Content updates • 3 years remote reporting capability • Order from HP • Order form on CABlink • There are a couple of other options
What about reporting • Reporting is via a website which is accessible from any PC with internet connection
What about security? • Physical – they have a hardened steel locked cabinet weighing about 50 kilos (110 pounds) • They run a secure browser under a restricted account • Content – blacklists, whitelists and a content filter which prevents people accessing inappropriate websites • Network – they come with a hardware firewall which prevents people accessing your network
