What is a Computer Network? • A computer network is a serie of computers and devices that are joined by communication channels.

Networks allow authorized people or users to see information saved in other computer connected to the network. Share Information
The computers connected to the network can share equipment such as: printers, moderns, etc. They can also share software. This helps to avoid duplication costs. Share Hardware and Software
Networks can share a single internet connection. This makes it easier to communicate. People can talk efficiently via e-mail, instant message, chat rooms, or videoconferencing. Share Internet
There are three main types of networks: LAN MAN WAN Types of Networks
LAN is usually used to physically link two computers within a geographical limited area such as a building. The linked computers are called workstations. LAN (Local Area Network)
A metropolitan area network is used to cover lager geographic areas, such as cities. MAN (Metropolitan Area Networks)
A wide area network is used to cover even larger geographical areas such as countries. WAN (Wide Area Networks)
