  2. U-boat plan was working and sinking tons of Allied ships • Allies developed convoys: large fleets used to guard merchant ships • Ensured Great Britain would not be starved out by the Germans. U-boats Beaten by convoys

On the Eastern Front, Russia was barley surviving costly defeats. • The Russian people were tired of loosing • Revolution brewing against Tsar Nicholas II he abdicates • New gov. signs the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk Russia is out of WWI • Germans and Austrian-Hungarians now focus their attention on just the Western Front. Russia Surrenders

  4. The Germans now have more soldiers in the Western Front than the Allies • 6K German cannons in the west  Central Power victory after victory Germans are almost to Paris • BUT their supplies ran out and the Americans arrived (doughboys) German assaults halted Germany’s Last Push

Battle of Amiens, Allies crushed the Germans (300 British tanks & French-US attacks) • Germans pushed back • Central Powers crumbling • Bulgaria, Ottomans, Austria-Hungary sign armistices: An agreement made by opposing sides in a war to stop fighting for a certain time; a truce. Turning the Tide

  6. Food, fuel shortages, lose of life Germany on the brink of revolution • Nov. 9,1918, Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany abdicates: gave up the throne • New German gov. agreed to an armistice • 2 days later WWI came to an end (Nov. 11, 1918) Kaiser Wilhelm II Abdicates
