About Me: • I’m originally from Xi’an China. • I got my master’s degree in Early Childhood Studies in the University of North Texas, and I also did my student teaching in Third Grade in Texas. Prior to coming to the United States, I taught in a college in China for two years. • This will be my first year to teach Fourth Grade, and I will do all my best to plan for all of our exciting classroom learnings

8 Steps of Model Drawing • Read the entire problem. • Decide who is involved in the problem. • Decide what is involved in the problem. • Draw unit bars of equal length. • Read each sentence, one at a time. • Put the question mark in place. • Work computation to the side or underneath. • Answer the question in a complete sentence.
Addition Example: Alicia had $6 more than Bobby. If Bobby had $10, how much did they have altogether? Step one: Read the entire problem “Alicia had $6 more than Bobby. If Bobby had $10, how much did they have altogether? Step two: Decide who is involved in the problem. Alicia Bobby Step three: Decide what is involved in the problem Alicia’s money Bobby’s money Step four: Draw unit bars of equal length Alicia’s money Bobby’s money Step five: Read each sentence, one at a time. Homework Policies • Homework (math and Chinese) most nights in 4th Grade • 30 minutes of English book reading and Chinese word • book each night • Make sure your child has distraction-free homework • time and a set homework place • We provide 15 to 20 minutes of free time per day for • students to complete part of their homework • Please check and sign your child’s folder everyday. Remind your child to hand in the homework on time.

Field Trip Fourth grade will have three times field trip during this school year. • Term 1 : Science • Term 2: Chinese Language Arts • Term 3: Social Studies All field trip will relate to fourth grade CLA, Social studies &Science. More information will be send home later.
