Making a Conclusion Based on Your Data You are almost done!
Last week refresher: Dependent Variable = What you are measuring Independent Variable = What you are manipulating or changing
This week: • At this point in the project: • You should have conducted your experiment and repeated it 3 times • You should have collected data and started to transfer the data into a graph (e.g. bar graph, line graph, pie chart) • You should be ready to make a conclusion about your results and state whether your hypothesis was true or false
Making your conclusion: Your conclusion summarizes how your results support or contradict your original hypothesis
Making your conclusion: • Summarize your project in a few sentences • Include background information to help explain your results as needed • State whether your results support or contradict your hypothesis • Summarize the experimental procedure – make comments about its success and effectiveness • Suggests changes in the experimental procedure and possibilities for future study
YOUR POSTER!!! • Checklist of things your must have on your poster: • Abstract • Safety Sheet • Purpose/Question • Hypothesis • Experimental Procedure & Materials • Results – written and data table/graph • Conclusion • Photos or drawings of your observations
