  3. Background:SAFETEA-LU Requirements • A "locally developed coordinated plan" drafted with stakeholder involvement • Projects must be derived from the plan • JARC and New Freedom projects must be competitively selected Coordinated Plan

Human Service Transportation Coordination Task Force • 45 Members Represent: • Public transit agencies • Departments of Transportation • Private and nonprofit transportation providers • Human service agencies • Users/Consumers • Created by TPB in July 2006 • Approved structure and membership • Includes representation from all TPB member jurisdictions • Chaired by TPB Member Elected Official

  12. Recommended JARC Projects • Boat People SOS Road to Independence Through Savings & Education (RISE) • Employment preparation for Vietnamese immigrants and refugees • Provides capital and operating assistance to provide transportation
