American management advocates “Short term planning”. • Decision making is mostly individual based, flows from top to bottom, which makes it a fast process. • Organization structure is bureaucratic with specific lines of individual responsibility and accountability. • American companies hire people through campus recruitment and experienced people from other companies which lead to culture of frequent hopping.
People are loyal toward profession not towards the company. • Promotions based on performance • Training and development are considered to be an expense • Leadership style is directive in nature, leader is the decision maker. • Communication flows from top to bottom • Individualistic culture is promoted. Focus is on fixing for non-accompolishment of targets.
Indian • Most Indians value bonds emotions and long-term relationships. • Most Indians value growth opportunities and commitment. • Our cultural roots (of tolerance etc.) often make us complacent. • Lack of patriotism at a macro level leaves us aimless.
