    1. The Canterbury School Sports Partnership PLT Partnership Training Day 1 Monday 21st September 2009 Including, supporting & challenging all young people through PE and school sport

    3. Key Outcomes of a School Sports Partnership High Quality PE for all students. Opportunities for all young people to :- participate in a range of high quality activities on a school site. access a range of activities in a community environment all young people to develop their potential young people to undertake high quality Leadership and Volunteering roles.

    4. The Canterbury Partnership Government aim for 2008 – 2011 ‘In addition to at least 2 hours per week of high quality PE and Sport in school for all 5 – 16 year olds, all children and young people aged 5 – 19 will be offered opportunities to participate in a further 3 hours per week of sporting activities provided through schools, FE Colleges, clubs and community providers. This will create a sustainable legacy both in terms of future elite success and grassroots sport. The 5 HOUR OFFER!!!

    6. How did we do? PESSYP results 08/09 for the Canterbury Partnership % of pupils participating in 3 hours of high quality PE & out of school hours in a typical week (new question) ……….54% Still work needed for 2 hours at secondary level.

    9. New Question: Regular Intra School Competition 08/09 SSP TOTAL = 55% Very high at Primary- all years high 80’s/90’s 94% at Year 4! Important to sustain and improve

    11. Q6. What is the total number of pupils in each year group who have taken part in inter-school competition during this academic year? SSP TOTAL= 51% WITH YEAR 12 & 13

    13. New Question: Regular Inter school Competition 08/09 SSP TOTAL= 39% High for primary 70% Important to sustain and improve Virtual League Partnership festivals – variety of children. Schools Tracker System……?

    14. How did we do? The average number of sports provided by schools nationally during 08/09 was 23 compared to 17.5 in 07/08 and 14.5 2003/04. Only 10% of which have School/Club links.

Target Area 1- School Club Links Much stricter guidelines for what is a School Club Link More work needed by schools and clubs to improve existing links and to establish new links if we are going to work toward the 3rd,4th….5th hour offered to all YP. School Sport Coach Programme/Big Lottery Use of PLT days to establish new club links. More SSP Targeted work

Canterbury CPD opportunities Courses available to all members of staff not just PLT’s but class teachers, TA’s, AOTT etc. The Canterbury Partnership are running an array of training courses this year. To include: Gym, Dance, Multi Skills, Sport Stacks, Rugby, Athletics, Cricket & PLT modules. 3 x Partnership training days - Training for new programmes & initiatives, networking, planning with SSCo’s. ASK also run training courses - Swimming modules, ‘help I’m not a specialist!’ PLT conference. A full day’s supply cover is Ł143 Please sign and send in invoices ASAP after a course OR DAY OF COURSE. Each primary partner is eligible for 9 days supply cover a year. To include 3 x Partnership Training Days, 3 training Courses, 3 Flexi Days. www.canterburyssp.co.uk

    19. Flexi Days Subject monitoring Lesson observations Team teaching Writing policies, schemes of work, programmes. Course attendance We are however flexible according to a school’s individual objectives and developmental needs.

Canterbury Competitions 10 x Partnership Festivals- (heats for Kent School Games)- Calendar Kent School Games Finals (June 2010) Other Partnership Festivals: OAA, Gladiators, New this year: Qwik Sticks, Aqua Splash, 5 x Partnership Leagues- Girls & Boys mini soccer, Tag Rugby, Kwik Cricket, High 5. Family festivals/Double family festivals Athletics Virtual League.

    21. Photographic Policy Red wristbands should be worn by all young people who should not have their photograph taken at any competition/festival. Many SSP will be doing the same. Particularly important for cross partnership events: Kent School Games. Newspapers and official photographers will be aware of policy.

    22. Towards the 5 hour offer? How can we achieve the 5 hour offer in our schools? Who will be involved in helping us?

Schools choose coaches/activities from database to use in schools SSCO’s/schools will liaise with coaches on OSHL timetable Hours logged and registers taken as evidence Exit Routes into community clubs

ACTION PLANNING with SSCo's Using your schools individual 08/09 PESSYP summary report what are your main areas to work on? i.e. KS1 Leadership, More OSHL for Year 3, more inter school competition for Year 2, more regular inter school competition for Year 5 & 6. How will you be supported in achieving your objectives? What support do you need for SSCO? When do you think you might achieve your objective? How do you plan to use your PLT days?

    28. PLT Days How can you use your 6 remaining PLT days to achieve your 09/10 Action Plan/ School objectives. Plan which courses are needed to improve High Quality PE. Could you use 1,2 Flexi days to gain a new School/Club link for your school?

    30. Playground to Podium A programme for students with Physical Disabilities Deliver training for identified staff to develop skills in identifying and supporting ability in young disabled people. Staff Identify particular students to send to the East Kent Talent I.D Day, for those young disabled people who are demonstrating higher abilities in PE and Sport. Students demonstrating high abilities will be invited to the Kent P2P Day and registered through Para Sport Identified students will be invited to attend county training camps in particular sports.
