Personality • It consist of behaviors, attitudes, feelings, and ways of thinking that make you an individual. • Many researchers use five central traits to describe how people behave, relate to others, and react to change.
Five central traits • Extroversion- how much you like being with other people. • Agreeableness- describes your tendency to relate to other people in a friendly way. • Conscientiousness- describes how responsible and self-disciplined you are. • Emotional Stability- people who tend to be relaxed, secure, and calm during situations. • Openness to Experiences- tend to be curious, imaginative, and creative.

High Self esteem +Low Self esteem - • Accept themselves for who they are. • They know strengths & weaknesses. • Form close relationships with people who respect and value them. • Bounce back quickly from setbacks • Don’t have respect for themselves • Judge themselves based on others • “put on act” in public to hide insecurities • They fear of failure & looking bad
Ways to boost your Self esteem • Maintain positive attitude • Focus on strengths • Form close relationships • Set goals for yourself • Avoid risky behaviors • Ask for help • Help others
How it develops • On average, Self-esteem drops in early adolescence, increases during adulthood, and decreases again toward the end of life.
Improving your Self-esteem • Don’t’ base esteem solely on others opinion. • Set ambitions, but realistic goals for yourself. • Don’t be too hard on yourself • Look beyond your own concerns • Don’t focus on the appearance….Don’t judge a book by its cover
