2. Science fiction movies • Science fiction film is that kind of movie in which we can find extraterrestrial life forms, alien worlds, time travel and much more, and we can find futuristic elements such as cyborgs, spacecrafts and other. • The first science fiction film was ”La Charcuterie mécanique”, created by the Lumière Brothers. It appeared in 1895 and purports to show a machine that automatically turns a live pig into various pork products; however, at least in surviving prints of the film, it looks like little more is going on than a butcher hawking his wares from a stand that just happens to have "La Charcuterie mécanique" painted on it. • The next major example in the genre was the 1927 film Metropolis. It is set in a futuristic urban dystopia and makes use of this context to explore the social crisis between workers and owners inherent in capitalism, as expressed by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. • In the late 1970s, a movie named „Star Wars” was filmed and totally revolutionized this genre of movies. • The events depicted in „Star Wars” media take place in a fictional galaxy. Many species of alien creatures (often humanoid) are depicted. Robotic droids are also commonplace and are generally built to serve their owners. Space travel is common, and many planets in the galaxy are members of a Galactic Republic, later reorganized as the Galactic Empire.

From ”La Charcuterie mécanique” to nowadays’ movies such as Avatar, Transformers, Green Lantern or Captain America: The First Avenger it’s a huge and observable difference. • In my opinion, science fiction movies are a good way to entertain you when you’re down. They can easily cheer you up and make you feel better. So my advice is to watch one whenever you have some spare time and you probably won’t regret it. Enjoy!

5. Horror movies • Most of us probably ask ourselves: why do people enjoy watching horror movies? I think the answer is that they actually love being scared! • Investigators generally use one of two theories to explain why people like horror movies. The first is that the person is not actually afraid, but excited by the movie. The second explanation is that they are willing to endure the terror in order to enjoy a euphoric sense of relief at the end. • Themes or elements that appear in a horror movie are usually: ghosts, torture, gore, werewolves, ancient curses, Satanism, demons, vicious animals, vampires, cannibals, haunted houses, zombies and serial killers. • There are different types of horror movies: 1. The Slasher Flick or Dead Teenager Movies: In 1979 a movie named Halloween was released. It was a very scary movie about, basically, a killer in a mask that murders baby-sitters. The film was dark in tone and bad in acting but it struck a chord with audiences and critics and became the top grossing indie film ever. Hollywood has a knack for taking an idea or style and doing it to death.

6. They took the Slasher genre, created by Halloween, and re-did it many, many times. Movies like Friday The 13th and Halloween 2 were shoddy and cheap, yet they became huge hits. Another movie like these is I Know What You Did Last Summer. 2. Monster Movies: Take a monster, a creature of any kind, put it in a strange setting and add a bunch of people to act as a buffet for the monster. That’s a traditional monster movie. Examples of this kind of movies would be Alien and Jurassic Park. 3. Smart Horror: They rarely have to do with monsters or murderers, though some like Silence of the Lambs, Mimic and Psycho, do. Most of these movies deal with the devil, Rosemary’s Baby, The Exorcist, Devil’s Advocate, or Inner Turmoil, The Apartment, Mouth Of Madness, and Event Horizon. In my opinion horror movies are for those who can watch them and not get scared or have after-effects. Contrary to the general opinion, some of them are still good movies and you can have fun watching them especially with your friends! So, don’t be scared and watch good horror movies like The Grudge, The Amityville Horror, House of Wax and My Bloody Valentine.

8. Action movies - a way of entertainment • When most people think of entertainment, they think of movies. What would life be like if movies didn’t exist? I tell you: very boring! So, that’s why I chose to present you the action movies, because I think they are the most exciting. • The first thing to consider is the sensation and the excitement. What you feel when you watch an action movie is great! For most action movies enthusiasts, there is one more feeling: the curiosity, because they are very curious to find out what will happen after the action reaches the climax. • Secondly, the pleasure of the people is rising because these films star some of the most well-known old-school action film heroes, like: Sylvester Stallone; Jason Statham; Bruce Lee; Jackie Chan; Arnold Schwarzenegger; Jean-Claude Van Damme; Steven Seagal or Chuck Norris.

9. Another consideration is that violence is rising nowadays, so people are accustomed with this kind of movies and they like it more and more. In addition to this, I want to show you Some old movies that you may know, like: Commando (with Arnold Schwarzenegger); Exit Wounds (with Steven Seagal); Independence Day (with Jeff Goldblum); Rambo (with Sylvester Stallone); Kickboxer (with Jean-Claude Van Damme) or The Transporter (with Jason Statham) are all good films that I and you will remember all our lives. • In conclusion, the action movies are real ways of entertainment, not only for the lovers of these films, but for most people who enjoy the action. Personally, I believe, as a fan of this kind of movies, that they are the most exciting and relaxing movies for the majority of people. And that is especially the case for the ones starring some of the most well-known actors of the world. Am I right? I surely am!

11. Comedy movies – distraction from everyday problems • Most people, be it children, teens or adults prefer before all, comedy movies. With their help, for two or three hours our problems or any other things that make us sad disappear. • Most comedies have as main characters small children, who often stay home alone and make all sorts of stupid things that make us laugh. A good example would be “Home alone” films in which a seven-year-old child is forgotten at home by his family home for a whole weekend, and he must confront the thieves wanted by the police. While desperately looking for his family, the child mocks those thieves. • But usually movies that are very popular are about high school students who lead an easy life and have fun. They end in a more or less happy tone, when the problems that appear are finally solved and everything is as good as before.

12. Comedy is good but not too much because it makes you look at life from another perspective. However, it makes you more cheerful if the situation allows, and laughter makes you live longer. • In my opinion a person should always try to be well-prepared and to think that life is not always as pink as presented in the movies. Nevertheless, with a little effort we can make the best out of our lives so that it resembles the one in the movies.
