  1. Nutrition and Oral Health Recommendations for Children

  2. Children need proper nutrition for their body development to grow big and strong, however, good nutrition also plays a significant role in the health of his/her mouth. Without the right vitamins and minerals, teeth cant develop properly, therefore, increasing the risk of gum disease and tooth decay at an early age. • It might seem challenging to make your children follow a specific diet, but it is worth for a long term benefit of your child’s overall health. • Being the best dentist in Pune, Nanda Dental Care has a team of best pedodontist in Pune to take care of your child’s dental requirements. They are specially trained in understanding a child’s behavior and how to best manage a child in the dental chair.

  3. Here are some tips for selecting the right food with high nutritional value for your little ones- • Keep Fruits and Vegetable as a source of ‘healthy snack’ instead of carbs- Choose fruits and vegetables like pears, melons, celery and cucumbers as they contain a high volume of water which is beneficial for your child. • Avoid sticky and chewy foods- Foods such as raisins, oatmeal, dried figs, jelly beans, syrups stick to teeth, making it difficult for saliva to remove them. Make sure your child brushes his/her teeth after consuming such foods • Serve cheese with lunch or snacks- Cheese triggers the flow of saliva in the mouth which helps to wash away other food particles

  4. Server surgery treats only after a meal- If your child craves for sweets or desserts, give them immediately after lunch or dinner. This creates a flow of saliva into the mouth so that the food ate during mealtime get easily washed away. • Include a good source of Calcium- Foods like milk, yogurt, and broccoli contains a high amount of calcium which strengthens one's teeth and bones. • Avoid sugary foods which are bad for teeth- Lollipops, candies, cough drops, and mint candies contains a high amount of sugar which can cause tooth decay because the continuously coat the teeth with sugar. • Make them drink more water- Readymade Juices and sodas contain a high amount of sugar. Water does not harm the teeth and helps in washing away any food particles that may be clinging to teeth.

  5. Although you cannot say ‘NO’ every time to snacks and sweets you can offer healthier options such as carrots, apples and other fruits. Let your child choose the toothbrush of his/her choice. This can engage them in brushing their teeth from time to time • Visit the dentist regularly. Your child should make his or her first visit to the dentist by the age of 1 or within 6 months of the first tooth breaking through the gums. Having regular dental checkups at Nanda Dental Care will also help catch any developing dental problems early. • To book an appointment call us at +919822252020
