  2. Focus question The interest in massive data processing comes in waves, with the most recent wave originating in the late 90s/early 00s. Compared to those prior developments, what’s new about the recent Big Data wave ? What ideas and techniques can be reused or adapted, and what are the novel questions and challenges that will require fresh approaches ?
