Place Value Through the Millions • A place value chart shows the value of the digit in a number. • Place value charts are divided into periods, these periods are separated by commas. • If you are unsure of the place value of a given digit start with the ones place and work your way to the left.
Decimal Place Value through Thousandths • A decimal place value chart shows the value of the digit in a number. • Decimals are not separated by commas, as whole numbers are. • When you are unsure of the place value of a digit in a decimal start from the tenths place and work your way to the right.
