The Castle in Třebíč • The castle is a national cultural monument
The beginning • The former Benedictine Monastery was rebuilt gradually into a manorial residence during the 16th century.
History • The Benedictines cared for the monasterytill 1484. Since then there were several more owners. • National LandFund got the castle in 1945 as confiscation. • Then there were the following institutions: The Higher AgriculturalSchool, a kindergarten, a student´s dormitory,from 1946 The State Archive and the town´s museum. • There is the Museum of the Region Vysočina nowadays.

Location The castle is in the middle ofTřebíč on the left bank of the riverJihlava. The main entrance is from 9. května Street.
The outside • The castle is a three - wing building. • Together with the monastery basilica it encloses an almost square - shaped courtyard. • The courtyard used to be a paradise garden.
The inside • There are painted coats of arms on the first floor of the whole western wing.
