The WIA Youth Program The goal of a Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth program is to improve the long-term job prospects of young people by providing basic skills, work readiness skills, occupational skills training, and citizenship skills.

The Youth We Serve • 14 to 21 years old • Low income individual • And is one or more of the following: • Basic skills deficient • School dropout • Homeless, runaway or foster child • Pregnant or a parent • An offender • An individual in need of additional assistance to complete an educational program, or to secure employment
The Youth We Serve • WIA youth programs can serve youth who do not meet the low income requirement • Youth who fall into the this income exception can only make up FIVE PERCENT of total enrollees
