5 Steps to Organized Writing • Brain storm • Rough Draft • Revise • Edit • Final copy
Brain Storm • Think, plan, and jot down ideas about your topic. (pre-writing) Ways to brainstorm • List, cluster, map, make an outline.
Rough Draft • Draft (write) your thoughts into paragraph form. Tools for rough drafting • Free writing or setting a time limit and writing nonstop for that period of time.
Revise • Improve the flow of your paper by addingwhat you need add deleting what you don’t need. Rearranging. Ways to Revise • Rearranging words or sentences. How can I make my paper better?
Edit • Corrects errors in spelling, punctuation, capitalization, form. Ways to Edit Let another student read and correct mistakes in your paper (peer editing) or conference with the teacher. • “Let’s fix this paper!” “Let’s fix this paper!”
Final Copy • A complete paper that has been through the writing process. • Should be neat and ready to turn in to the teacher.
