Special Welcome Joel Southerland New Consultant in Evangelism Ministries
From Facts and Trends “Intentionality in evangelism is a common attribute among the most effective evangelistic churches. The pastors are focused on reaching people for Christ. Whether it’s through the content of sermons, planning for worship services, or simply the nature of church programming, it is clear that everything is designed with church outreach in mind.”
Getting Started • Set aside a day to plan six stages of evangelism for the next year. • Ideally, do this in October for next calendar year, but you can begin at any point. • Share the plan with staff and congregation.
Stage One: Enlist someone to lead a comprehensive prayer strategy focused on praying for the lost by name. Resource: Power of Ten
Stage Two Plan two Personal Evangelism Training Opportunities for the congregation. One for congregation And One for church leaders
Stages Three and Four Plan two to three Evangelistic Sundays And Plan two to three major Evangelistic Events Enlist “point man” for each. Spread these throughout the year.
Stage Five Coordinate and Account for Evangelism Strategy of leaders of Children, Youth, and Sunday School Directors. Plan minimum quarterly meeting with each including all Sunday School leaders.
Stage Six Determine enhancements for Outreach and Follow Up Strategies. Evaluate and plan improvements for welcome, greeters, facilities.
Do I have to do all of this? “No you do not, but remember, the more that you can sow, the more that you will reap. Go as deep as you can with the resources that you have. The more people you reach, the more resources you will have in the future to address all stages.”
