WELCOME TO TEKOV REGION. The territory of Tekov region lies in valleys and the Štiavnicke hills, there are numerous vineyards thank which it is well known in Slovakia. It has 47 villages and 2 towns. Villages lie on the territory of two historical regions Tekov and Hont.

  1. WELCOMETOTEKOV REGION

  2. The territory of Tekov region lies in valleys and the Štiavnicke hills, there are numerous vineyards thank which it is well known in Slovakia. It has 47 villages and 2 towns. Villages lie on the territory of two historical regions Tekov and Hont.

  3. A village Starý Tekov was the centre of the region in the past. One of small villages of the region was Léva, today´s Levice – now a district town. But it is not only Levice, which make the region important and exceptional. Under the Štiavnické hills, from the village Nový Tekov up to Pukanec there are numerous vineyards. Vineyards are situated in the south warm part of the region which enables to grow very good and tasty sorts of wine well known in Slovakia and Hungary.

CULTURE When you visit our region you should not miss: • Regional degustation of quality wines in the village Čajkov • Traditional craft fair in Pukanec where craftsmen present their products, especially their famous pottery • The raft of the river Hron, Levice castle festival, a famous Levice fair, • Horce-race in Nový Tekov, regional Tekov folclore festival and many other festivities. • National house in Jur nad Hronom, shows rich traditions of the region. • Stone dwellings in Brhlovce, and a water mill in Bohunice, which is the witness of the old mill tradition in Slovakia.

  5. The lovers of tourism will find a lot of footpaths in our region. In the village Krškany the protected zone – Horšianska valley starts with unique vertical walls from stone. The hill Vápnik called also Šiklóš, near Levice, offers its visitors a beautiful panoramatical view on the region. Do not forget to visit a village Kozárovce, famous for its national costumes which are still worn by older women and men.

  6. Lipovina – water reservoir near Bátovce, Kozmalovce reservoir tempts its visitors and lovers of water sports. It is recommended to visit thermal spas Margita – Ilona and Santovka. When there is good weather you can see a famous and historical basilica in Ostrihom in Hungary. The visitors of the region should also visit Jurský park in Jur nad Hronom, a beautiful village Uhliská, beautiful fields near the village Bajka, romantic ceves of the river Hron and much more...
