Authorial Point of View - definition • Authorial POV: Students show how the occupation, gender, class, religion, nationality, political position, ethnicity, etc. influence the author’s POV • You can have clues to POV even if you are not totally familiar with the topic they are discussing.
Example: Ms. Greenberg, Social Studies teacher, early 30s, is a swimmer, enjoys knitting and watching movies -specifically romantic comedies from France and bank robbery movies from the United States and Latin America How does the following review reflect Ms. Greenberg’s authorial POV?
Ms Greenberg’s review of The Town the 2010 film with Ben Affleck “This was one of the best movies of the year. When they broke into the armored car in nun outfits to steal the bank’s money, I was on the edge of my seat. EVERYONE should see this movie.” Write one sentence connecting Ms. Greenberg’s “authorial point of view” to the document.
