Introduction to Matlab: Accessing Matlab at Mason • There are several ways to get to Matlab: • Log in remotely, using VCL for Windows or Mac • (using these instructions, or those found at: • http://cds130.org/vcl#Virtual_Computing_Lab_Login_Guide) • Log in remotely, using CygWin on Windows • Log in remotely, using Linux (SSH) • Log in locally, at the Johnson Center • Log in locally, at Innovation Hall • Purchase it at Patriot Computers ($109)

  3. Introduction to Matlab: Accessing Matlab at Mason • We’ll explain the first three, since they involve remote access. On campus access is easy through any workstation (Matlab appears in the list of available software). Of course, if you wish to purchase Matlab, then you’ll have your own copy to work with, on your own computer. • Log in remotely, using VCL for Windows or Mac • (using these instructions, or those found at: • http://cds130.org/vcl#Virtual_Computing_Lab_Login_Guide) • Log in remotely, using CygWin on Windows • Log in remotely, using Linux (SSH)

  4. Introduction to Matlab: Accessing Matlab at Mason • Best help sources: Sooroutinely accesses Matlab using VCL on Windows, and Samantha accesses Matlab using VCL on a Mac.   22. Logging in Remotely, Using CygWinX for Windows Now click on the Cygwin icon on your desktop (the icon appears following successful installation):

  26. Logging in Remotely, Using CygWinX for Windows Enter this command AS WRITTEN. Replace “jmarr2” with YOUR MasonID:

  28. Logging in Remotely, Using CygWinX for Windows Finally, enter the single word command, “matlab”

  29. Logging in Remotely, Using CygWinX for Windows You’ve now logged into Matlab, which is presented through the Xwindows interface. Note that the version of Matlab available here is NEWER than the one available through VCL!

  33. Logging in Remotely, Using Linux You’re now logged in, using Linux’s native Xwindows capability. Note that the version of Matlab available here is NEWER than the one available via VCL!
