  2. Commanding scripture • All scripture is God breathed – 2 Timothy 16-17 • The 10 commandments • A verse that is just right

  3. Compelling spirit • Acts 20:22 – Paul is compelled by the spirit • We can learn to recognise the voice of the Holy Spirit • The Holy Spirit leads through prayer • Test to see if it is God speaking

  4. Common sense • 2 Timothy 2:7 - Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this. • Guided to make decisions for ourselves • God calls us into things – not out

  5. Counsel of Saints • God will talk to any of us • It’s good to learn from each other • It’s not weak to seek advice from others • Fellowship helps us build each other up

  6. Circumstantial signs • Proverbs 16:9 - In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. • God will open and close doors • Psalm 37:5 – Commit your way to the Lord. Trust in him, and he will do this.
