  1. Creating a Volcanic Eruption By: Jennifer Camacho and Tyler Erwin Tyler: We will use these ingredients to demonstrate a fizzing volcano which is formed when we mix sodium bio carbonate with acetic acid. Jenny: Hello students. Today we will learn what happens when a base and acid are mixed together. Tyler: Here are the materials we will use for our experiment. Jenny (shows vinegar and baking soda) Jenny: Why does this happen? Carbonic acid is very unstable, so it breaks apart into water and carbon dioxide, which creates the fizzing eruption. Jenny and Tyler do experiment. Tyler: As you have just seen, mixing sodium bicarbonate with acetic acid creates a fizzing volcano. Jenny: If you try this at home, don’t do this in your parent’s living room!
