  1. Get SmART Tools of the Trade

  2. Assignment • Different supplies will be shown with a description of their use • At the end you will each be responsible for filling out a worksheet naming and drawing the different supplies

  3. Ruler • Each one of you are familiar with a ruler but what do artist use them for?

  4. Ruler • Artist use rulers to draw straight lines and to measure much like you do. • Can you think of anything else they use rulers for?

  5. Colored Pencils • We have used colored pencils many times in class while drawing. Guess what artist use them for the same thing!

  6. Tape • Artist use tape to block off areas where they do not want paint. • Can you think of a place you have seen this done before?

  7. Tape • When painting a room so paint does not get where it should not be.

  8. Paint • Paint is used by artist to create their master pieces

  9. What other mediums do artist use to create master pieces? • Watercolors • Colored Pencils • Markers • Crayons • Can you think of any others?

  10. Paint Brushes • Paint brushes are used to paint. • There are many different sizes, colors, and shapes of paint brushes

  11. Proper Use of Paint Brushes • Should we ever paint ourselves or other people? NO • Should we paint things besides our canvas? NO

  12. Clay • Clay is used to create 3-D art. It can be used to create all different things. Bowls, cups, plates etc. It has been used for thousands of years!

  13. Scissors • Artist use scissors much like you do!

  14. Eraser • Everyone makes mistakes, even artist. If they decide they do not like the way something looks they erase it.

  15. Are you an Artist? YES

  16. Everyone is an artist • You use all the tools in the same way that artist do • This week you will learn about three different artist and about some of the things that they painted • While working on your worksheet the digital camera will be passed around

  17. Digital Camera • Please take a picture of your neighbor making a similar face: • This will be used tomorrow when we create our own versions of this painting

  18. Please return to your seat and begin working on your worksheet
