  2. First Part One-to-One How to Effectively Witness Face to Face Created by Jim Thurber K9KQ@me.COM

  3. What would the world be like if every Christian in the world – EVERY CHRISTIAN – witnessed each week? One-to-One Soon, the whole world would hear what a great and glorious God we have. Witnessing, sharing your faith in Christ with others, glorifies God.

  4. Your witness informs people about a God Who cares for His creation: All is under God’s powerful and loving maintenance. the blood coursing from your beating heart. such as the light streaming from a distant star, or

  5. Your witness informs people of a God Who triumphs over evil: God has the power to deliver you from any and all evil. the demonic power of Satan to control you and the world, or the sin that so easily entangles you.

  6. He knows all about it. Your witness informs people about a God of unlimited knowledge: the sadness of a broken heart. about the lack of funds in your bank account;

  7. God has always desired for the whole world to know about His qualities; e.g. Pharaoh: God wants the whole world to adore Him. Exodus 9:16 Romans 9:17 “But for this purpose I have caused you to remain alive: to show you my strength, and that my name may be declared in all the earth.” “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may demonstrate my power in you, and that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.”

  8. Whether Old Testament or New Testament, God’s purpose is the same: worldwide glory.

  9. “name” is a synonym for glory, and glory refers to God’s reputation. God’s primary concern is His reputation. Exodus 9:16 Romans 9:17 “But for this purpose I have caused you to remain alive: to show you my strength, and that my name may be declared in all the earth.” “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may demonstrate my power in you, and that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.” name name

  10. Replace “name” or “glory” with reputation. Exercise from Psalm 72: Psalm 72:19 His . . . name deserves praise forevermore. May His majestic glory fill the whole earth. name glory

  11. awakened to His glory (reputation). God wants EVERYONE EVERYWHERE That’s why . . .

  12. in the Old Testament God created Israel, and in the New Testament God created the Church to spread His fame worldwide.

  13. Eight times God told the nation of Israel to share His glory (fame, reputation) 1 Chronicles 16:8, 24 Make known His accomplishments among the nations. . . . Tell the nations about His splendor, tellall the nations about his miraculous deeds! INTERNATIONALLY

  14. Eight times God told the nation of Israel to share His fame . . . Psalm 105:1 Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name; make known His deeds among thepeoples. INTERNATIONALLY

  15. Eight times God told the nation of Israel to share His fame . . . Isaiah 12:4-5 Publicize His mighty acts among the nations. Make it known that He is unique. Sing to the Lord for He has done magnificent things. Let this be known throughout the earth. INTERNATIONALLY

  16. And 5 more passages: Each says the same: “Israel, tell the world about” the GLORY of God. Psalm 9:11 Psalm 96:3 Isaiah 48:20 Jeremiah 10:11 Ezekiel 12 :16

  17. Five times Jesus told His followers to do what Israel was to do, share the fame of God . . . Matthew 28:19-20 “Go... make disciples of all the nations,…, baptizing them,… teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.” WORLD-WIDE Jesus said, “Love . . . God with all your heart, . . . soul, and . . . mind. This is the . . . greatest commandment.” Matthew 22:34-35

  18. Five times Jesus told His followers to do what Israel was to do, share the fame of God . . . Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and preach the gospel toall creation.” WORLD-WIDE

  19. Five times Jesus told His followers to do what Israel was to do, share the fame of God . . . Luke 24:47 WORLD-WIDE “… repentance for forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His name toall the nations...”

  20. Five times Jesus told His followers to do what Israel was to do, share the fame of God . . . John 20:21 “I… send you (into the world).” WORLD-WIDE

  21. Five times Jesus told His followers to do what Israel was to do, share the fame of God . . . Acts 1:8 “… you shall be My witnesses both inJerusalem, and inall Judea and Samaria, and even tothe remotest part of the earth." WORLD-WIDE

  22. But Israel refused . . . Is the Church making the same mistake? Jeremiah 13:11 “I intended . . . for them to bring me fame, honor, and praise, but they would not obey me.” After 20 centuries, the Church has managed to awaken only 14% of the earth’s 7 billion to the outstanding qualities of God.

  23. awakened the world. What did do to make money, that the Church should have done to glorify God? did in one century what the Church has failed to do in twenty centuries: 72% have heard of Coca Cola. 53% have seen a bottle of Coca Cola. 41% have tasted Coca Cola. Only 14% have “tasted” Jesus. Coca Cola’s motto is “A bottle in every hand.” Church’s motto should be “Jesus in every heart.”

  24. Because the Church undervalues God’s GLOBALglory, six billion do not have Jesus in their heart. And two billion have little or no access to any facts about Jesus. Four billion have access to information about Jesus, Only 1 billion have “tasted” Jesus. but do not believe.

  25. Blindness to God’s glory is rampant all over the earth. When you evangelize your witness is like a shaft of light penetrating a very dark world. One-to-One

  26. Evangelism dispels the darkness. That is one reason why Jesus told His followers, “Follow me, and I will turn you into fishers of men,” Matthew 4:19 and Paul told his protégé, Timothy, “Do the work of an evangelist, . . .” 2 Timothy 4:5

  27. Though Jesus said, “Follow Me and I will turn you into fishers of men,” Mark 1:17 less than 2% of all committed Christians share on a regular basis. George Barna One-to-One ThismeansfewChristiansvaluebuilding God’s reputation as Jesus did by witnessing .

  28. What happens when you witness and people believe? God forgives their ____; sin glorifies and forgiveness of sin __________God. I am writing to you, little children, that your sins have been forgiven because of His name. 1 John 2:12 God forgives sin to build His reputation. For the sake of your name, O Lord, forgive my sin, because it is great. Psalm 25:11

  29. In these passages what glorifies God? Forgiveness of Sin This is why we witness, not only because we care about people’s souls, but also because we care about God’s reputation.

  30. What has to happen for you to witness for the sake of God’s glory and reputation? Ninety-seven percent of all Christians will die without sharing their faith. Most do not know how because most have not been adequately coached.

  31. How often do you share your faith? N E V E R Once a week? Once a month? Once a year? Once a lifetime?

  32. One-to-One Should you and I witness ? No. It can be scary and uncomfortable. It can be embarrassing. It takes the skill of a theologian. Build a relationship, then maybe. However, . . ..

  33. Penn Jillett, (of Penn and Teller fame) an avowed atheist, challenges non-witnessing Christians: “I don’t respect people who don’t proselytize. I don’t respect that at all. If you believe that there is a heaven and hell, and people could be going to hell or not getting eternal life or whatever, and you think it’s not really worth telling them this because it would make it socially awkward. . . . How much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize. How much do you have to hate somebody to believe everlasting life is possible and not tell them that?

  34. One-to-One Should you and I witness ? Yes. It can be scary and uncomfortable. Matthew 10:28 It can be embarrassing. Romans 1:16 1 Corinthians 15:34 It takes the skill of a theologian. Build a relationship, then maybe. Luke 6:26 Paul taught, Jesus said, Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes. Sober up as you should, and stop sinning! For some have no knowledge of God – I say this to your shame! Woe to you when all people speak well of you.

  35. Jesus knew evangelism glorified God. Jesus evangelized One-to-One. Nicodemus in John 3. Woman at the Well in John 4. The wealthy Ruler in Luke 18. Zaccheus in Luke 19.

  36. If everyone died today, 90% would go to Hell, and never glorify God with worship. Statistically, only 1 person on this page will be awakened to God’s glory and be forgiven.

  37. “O, dear, I don’t think I know enough to share my faith.” God’s glory is the best reason to evangelize. It should be, “O, my, I didn’t realize how much gloryGod gets when I do witness.”

  38. INTRODUCTION Bridge Question Challenge = a transition from the worldly to the holy.

  39. A Gospel Tract: Approach someone and simply ask: “Have you received one of these?” Then ask the Big Question. A Survey: You can ask people how they are doing in the current financialcrisis. After a brief discussion ask, “Are you prepared for the coming spiritual crisis?” What is the coming spiritual crisis? “You’re going to die.” Then ask the Big Question.

  40. Casual Conversation: Small talk about the weather or current events can establish a bridge for the spiritual, giving you a platform to ask the Big Question. The Key: Establish a relationship (even a shallow one) that grants the right for more conversation, and gives you a lead-in for the BIG QUESTION.

  41. “Jesus never evangelized the same way twice. . . . Jesus did not use standardized methods, He fit his approach to individual needs and personalities.” Stacy Rinehart

  42. Pray and fast: 1. forcountlessopportunities. 2. for boldness with love. 3. for skill of technique. 4. for God to be glorified.

  43. INTRODUCTION Bridge Question Challenge = The BIG QUESTION: “Do You See Yourself as a Good Person?”

  44. When you ask people, how many will say yes? 99.9% Self-righteousness is man’s favorite sin; and blinds him to God’s glory and fame. Man is so indoctrinated with concepts of self-esteem, the innate goodness of the human being, and existentialism that he is oblivious to his true condition of abhorrent wickedness.

  45. “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus used the 10Cs, found in the Mosaic Law, to expose this man’s self-righteousness. And that’s what you and I can do! The man saw himself as good. By using the 10Cs Jesus proved he wasn’t. He had broken the 1st C. He served money more than he served God. Mark 10: 17-22

  46. “A gospel which merely says, ‘Come to Jesus,’ and offers Him as a friend, and offers a marv- elous new life, without convincing of sin, is not New Testament evangelism. The essence of evangelism is to start by preaching the Law; and it is because the Law has not been preached that we have had so much superficial evangelism. True evangelism . . . must always start by preaching the Law (10Cs).” Martin Lloyd-Jones

  47. INTRODUCTION Bridge Question Challenge : What is the Challenge? “May I challenge your sense of being good?”

  48. How many people will permit you to challenge their sense of goodness (S.R.)? 99.9% People enjoy defending their sense of S.R. Once someone agrees to the challenge, say, “We will use the 10 Commandments to see how good you are.”

  49. SIN Commandments Calculate Condemn : The 10 Commandments of Exodus 20.

  50. The 10 Commandments, given over 3000 years ago on Mt. Sinai, are stillGod’s standard for right and wrong, good and bad. The 10Cs define what sin is. Paul wrote, “I would not have known sin except for the Law.” Romans 7:7
