Primary Theme Measures 1-11
Secondary Theme Measures 12-20
Exposition Secondary Theme Principal Theme mm. 13-20 mm. 1-12 The exposition begins with a principal subject; an anacrusis on G (dominant in the key) precedes a play on major chords in C that last for four measures. The pickup to mm five leads to the exposition of the main theme. This starts out the same way but adds a new melodic layer which ‘exposes’ the first musical idea. A secondary theme presents itself at measure 12 carrying through to the repeat at bar 20.
Development mm. 21-37 The development is very similar to the themes presented in the exposition, except now the melody plays on other pitches implying a change in tonal center. This section of Moderato adds several ornaments, mostly arpeggio sixteenth notes between the trills and 32. This continues until the key is reestablished with a half cadence on a G pickup.
Recapitulation mm. 38-58 The recap begins in measure 38 with nearly all of the A section returning and adding some ornamentations. There is a repeat at the end of this section that goes back to the pick up of the development section in mm. 21. This section ends on measure 58 with a PAC.
