CHALLENGES FOR CCN SERVICE DEVELOPMENT IN WALES. • TRUST RECONFIGURATION • ROLE OF CCN • NURSE PRESCRIBING • CONTINUING CARE PACKAGES/RESPITE • EDUCATION • EQUIPMENT • TRANSITION • ON CALL SERVICES • FUNDING • EQUITY AND ACCESSIBILITY • MEDICAL RESPONSIBILITY • EVALUATION OF OUR SERVICES
WELSH CCN’S VS THE WORLD !!!! • RAISE OUR PROFILE • ASSESS LOCAL NEED • PUBLISH GOOD PRACTICE
POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS • HOUSE OF COMMONS HEALTH SELECT COMMITTEE (1997b) • NSF (2005)
CONCLUSIONS • All children who are sick or have complex health needs have the right to be cared for at home by an appropriately qualified nurse. • The frustration for Welsh CCN’s is that investment and resources are needed to ensure equity, accessibility from WAG,Trusts and LHB’s.
