St. LUCY • Her feast day is on December 13 • She is the patron of blindness • She gave her life to god, and she refused to marry. • Her name means bringer of light, with the same root as Lucid which means clear, radiant, and understandable • She was born at Syracuse, Sicily
More about St. Lucy • When Lucy’s mother got sick, Lucy and her mother went to St. Agatha’s tomb, Lucy started to pray, then a few minutes later, they fell into sleep. Then Lucy saw St. Agatha in her vision. • After that her mother got cured instantly. • Then a boy asked Lucy’s hand in marriage, he denounced Lucy as a Christian during the persecution of Diocletian. • Then Diocletian took out Lucy’s eyes, as part of his torture. • Her vision saved her from dying

Prayer • Here is a prayer about St. Lucy • Saint Lucy, , you did not hide your light under a basket, but let it shine for the whole world, for all the centuries to see. We may not suffer torture in our lives the way you did, but we are still called to let the light of our Christianity illumine our daily lives. Please help us to have the courage to bring our Christianity into our work, our recreation, our relationships, our conversation, every corner of our day. Amen
