  1. In Search of Protists:A foray into the campus pond Victoria Phu

Procedure • On February 6th, 2012, Joanna, Joanne and I ventured into the murky waters of the campus pond to collect protist samples. • Three samples, one per person, were taken at six different locations around the campus pond. • We made sure that the samples were taken at least six inches deep to reach the silt at the bottom. Rain boots were very helpful. • The three of us each took turns taking pictures, collecting the samples and recording the data.

  3. Data Date of collection: February 6th, 2012

  4. Identification • We attempted to identify the organisms we found by comparing them to the resources provided by Professor Riley. • There is a high probability that some of “protists” are actually debris. • The following slides document my best attempts at identification. They include the photos of the “protist” found and what it might be.
