Think of a chocolate chip cookie as a rock. The cookie is made of Flour Butter Sugar Chocolate Chips
These ingredients can be called the minerals of the cookie!!
There are three types of rocks. These types are determined by how the rocks were made. Igneous Sedimentary Metamorphic Types of Rocks
Igneous Rocks Igneous rocks are formed by magma being cooled and becoming solid.
Mount rushmore – igneous rock Many igneous rocks are used in buildings and carvings.
Sedimentary Rocks Sedimentary Rocks are formed by broken bits and pieces of other rocks.
Arches national park -- Sedimentary Rock Many sedimentary rocks have layers of sediment. Fossils are found in sedimentary rocks.
Metamorphic Rocks Metamorphic Rocks are rocks that have changed form due to heat and pressure.
Antelope island – metamorphic rock Metamorphic comes from the Greek words meta and morph. Meta means change and morph means form.
