  3. Apollo is the son of Zeus and Leto • He has one sister Artemis • Father Zeus: • God of the sky and thunder • Mother Leto: • Goddess of motherhood • Artemis • Goddess of the wilderness and the hunt Family

  4. Apollo also had three children • Asclepius • God of medicine and healing • Troilus • Sometimes written as King Priams son. A young prince known during the Trojan war. First surviving record of him is contained in Homers Iliad. • Aristaeus • Very minor god. Credited with discovering bee-keeping Family Continued

  5. Lyre • A stringed instrument strum with a plectrum (a small flat tool used to strum instruments) • Looks close to a harp, but played like a guitar • Created for Apollo by Hermes • Snake • Bow and Arrow • Sword Symbols and Attributes
