  2. Genre • All writing falls into a category or genre. • Fiction • Nonfiction • Drama • Poetry • Folklore

Fiction • Writing that tells about imaginary characters and events. • Fictional stories include made-up people or animals called characters and a made-up series of events called the plot. • Take place in a time and location or setting which may or may not be real. • They are told by a speaker or narrator. • Fiction is told by a certain perspective or point of view. • Fiction also includes a theme or message about life.
