SSU data impact study Satellite Data: N14: hirs, msu, ssu N15: hirs, amsua, amsub N16: hirs, amsua, amsub Experiment list: • SSU1: No ssu, only n14 • SSU2: ssu 2 channels on, only n14 • SSU3: ssu 3 channels on, only n14 • SSU4: no ssu, amsu on, n14, n15 and n16 on. • SSU31: same as SSU3 except for no bias correct to ssu chn3, without extra layer in CRTM • SSU41: same as SSU4 except for chn14 on and no bias correct to it. new CRTM coeff All experiments were run from 2002050100 to 2002113018. The first 3 month is the satellite bias correction spin up period. The results between 2002080100 to 2002113018 can be used for ssu data impact evaluation.
1998102600 SSU assimilated AMSU assimilated SSU/AMSU transition AMSU is available at 1998102600. Experiments: • PR5C: • PR5S: Both experiments were run from 1998080100 to 1998123118. The first 1 month is for satellite bias correction spin up. The results between Sep and Dec. 1998 can be used to evaluate SSU/AMSU transition jump. • PR5SN: same as PR5S except for new B andbug fixed GSI. 1998102600 No SSU assimilated AMSU assimilated
SBUV/2 ozone flag 1 data The Flag 1 means the satellite has the solar zenith angle larger than 84 degree. This data becomes important when observing the ozone hole forming. Experiments: OZ1: without flag 1 data OZ2: flag 1 data is assimilated. Experiments cover the period of 2006080100 to 2006093018
