  2. Water Collecting water from a clear stream in a bottle Putting the filter in the bottle. Pumping water through the filter

  3. Food We took all our food with us. Cooking meat balls. Boil in the bag. Tasty tea Porridge for breakfast

  4. Shelter

  5. Keeping Dry and Warm A tent keeps us dry A sleeping bag to keep warm

  6. Emergency Shelter A survival bag for emergencies, like getting lost.

  7. Warm Clothes

  8. Spare clothes My brother fell in a stream and got cold and wet. He had to put on his spare clothes.

  9. Finding our way Using a map and compass so we don’t get lost

  10. Cairns mark the path Very helpful when it’s misty!

  11. Getting help in an emergency I carry a whistle to call for help A VHF radio for places where a mobile phone doesn’t work
