1. DETEC LSI Announces the Completion of the HEL TSP Capability Handbook The Directed Energy Test and Evaluation Capability (DETEC) Lead Systems Integrator (LSI) has completed work on the High Energy Laser (HEL) Target Subsystems Protection (TSP) Capability Handbook. The handbook contains information that describes techniques, analysis methods and tools that, when applied by a user to address a test specific subsystem installed in tactical target for a specific HEL weapon test scenario, provides a tailored target subsystem protection solution. A HEL TSP solution may include both non-physical changes to the test structure (e.g., target engagement geometry changes) and application of proven non-developmental physical protection techniques for the installed subsystem in the target itself (e.g., adding redundant components, shielding components, and applying reflective coatings). The solution generated by using the HEL TSP Capability Handbook also includes guidelines and procedures for applying non-developmental physical protection techniques to the target. The handbook provides a logical, easy to follow, step by step process for identifying a tailored target subsystem solution. A copy of the For Official Use Only (FOUO) HEL TSP Capability Handbook may be obtained by completing the HEL TSP Capability Handbook registration process on this web site. Users will indicate during registration their preferred method to obtain the handbook – via the internet or on CDROM shipped to the registered user. A print-friendly version of the handbook is also available. The HEL TSP Capability Handbook was developed under subcontract by SPARTA, Inc. of Huntsville, AL.
