  39. Feeling Thermometer Questions • In this style of question we ask respondents to think of a thermometer that has a range of 0 to 100 degrees. We wanted them to rate their feelings toward some campus figures and other people who are in the news. Ratings on the thermometer between 50 and 100 degrees mean that they feel favorable and warm toward the person. If we came to a person that they didn’t recognize, they didn’t need to rate that person. They just told us and we will move on to the next one. If they did recognize the name, but did not feel particularly warm or cold toward that person, they would rate the person at the 50-degree mark.
