History of cooperation • Bosnia 1992, later Croatia and Serbia – transport of relief goods • Delivery and reconstruction of houses, community facilities and infrastructure • 1999 - transport of relief goods in Albania, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Kosovo • Logistical support to establishment of UNMIC in Skopje • UNMACC – support with demining experts • SRSA initiated the presence of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) in Pristina, Skopje and Tirana

  3. Heavy forest fires in the region – support with fire-fighting equipment and training for The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (2000 and 2007) and Albania (2007) • Floods in the region – support with sand bags Romania 2006

  4. Cooperation • SRSA as a member of Advisory Board and International Partner in DPPI • Experts support to different DPPI courses and activities • Activities jointly organised within DPPI - UN CM Coord training course - Romania 2008 - APELL workshop2008 • Joint NATO/PFP course - Croatia 2008 (Slovenia 2001 and Romania 2006) • Concept of Cooperation with the Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief in Slovenia • SRSA, Swedish National Environmental Protection Agency and Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management at the “Development of Flood Risk Management Plan” project

New Swedish development assistance policy • Autumn 2007 presented by the Swedish Government • Strength focus on Europe • EU integration • poverty reduction and support to further reforms • Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, The Former Yugoslav Republicof Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine • New land strategies

  6. Ideas for future cooperation • Ongoing consultations with DPPI and international organisations (UNISDR, CADRI) • Meetings with countries in the region on bilateral basis • Bilateral projects (The Former Yugoslav Republic ofMacedonia, Albania) • Exchange of experts
