Wiron light The new non–precious PFM Alloy Dr. Ulrich Abend R & D Alloys
What do we expect from dental alloys? • Function (mechanical properties, processing by dental technician) • Esthetics • Biological properties • Bio compatible
Wiron light Casting made simpleby excellent melting properties • easy recognition of the proper moment for casting • high fluidity of the melt: reliable filling of the mould • low casting temperature: 1350 °C • reduced preheating temperature: 800°C
Wiron light • Easy finishing • by smooth surface after casting • low temperatures during casting guarantee little reaction with investment material • thin oxides with light colour • oxides are easy and fast to remove
Wiron light • Reliable results • by outstanding mechanical properties • high strength allows production of delicate structures • CTE optimally adjusted: normal cooling, in general • excellent bond strength for many available ceramics • Light oxide for improved aesthetics after veneering
Wiron light SUMMARY Easy to castCasting temperature: 1350 °C / 2460 °F Preheating temperature: 800 °C / 1472 °F Easy to grindLight coloured oxide For reliable resultsOutstanding strength Normal cooling -> www.bego.com

Corrosion & bio compatibility • Corrosion is the key to the bio compatibility of alloys • Reactions occur only if ions are released into the body! • The higher the amount of released ions, the higher the risk of unwanted biological reactions
Chromium content • Non precious alloys do not corrode because of passivation • Passivation: formation of mechanical and chemical stable chromium oxide layers • 20 % Chromium are necessary for stable layers!
